New case note: Requests for vaccine pricing and contracted delivery schedules

A decision by the ministry of Health to refuse separate requests for the contracted prices paid for COVID-19 vaccines and the contracted delivery schedules was correct, the Chief Ombudsman says.

He was satisfied that the release of information would likely ‘otherwise damage the public interest’ and that there was a very real risk that making the information available would have an adverse impact on the security of New Zealand’s COVID-19 vaccine supply both now and for the future.

The interest in protecting the integrity of the vaccine delivery and future vaccine supply outweighed the public interest in making the information available.
