The Chief Ombudsman’s Kiingitanga/Summer internship programme 2023/24 returns

The Chief Ombudsman’s Kiingitanga/Summer internship programme 2023/24 returns for the fourth time.

For the last 3 years, the internship has been successful in capturing the Chief Ombudsman’s vision to create meaningful work experiences, provide guidance and create development opportunities for talented young people.

The Kiingitanga partnership has also helped in creating a programme that’s both diverse and inclusive.

This year, we are expanding our programme to include an intern from the disability community. This important change aligns with the Chief Ombudsman’s role under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and his obligation to make the work environment more diverse and inclusive.

With the Kiingitanga and the disability community partnership we now have opportunities for up to six interns.

The internships will be a supervised placement within a specific team with clear learning outcomes. The main purpose of the internship is to provide mutual benefits to both the intern and the Chief Ombudsman.

Interns can expect to gain valuable work experience and a better understanding of the Chief Ombudsman’s work and commitment to New Zealanders.

The Kiingitanga/Summer 2023/24 internship will run for up to 14 weeks between November 2023 and February 2024.
