Chief Ombudsman welcomes Christchurch City Council information release
Chief Ombudsman Peter Boshier has welcomed today’s decision by the Christchurch City Council to release the information regarding the cost of the digital touch-wall in its new library.
“I am pleased the Council has decided to implement the Ombudsman’s recommendation to make the information available and comply with its public duty under the law.
I have received an assurance from the Council this morning that it had no intention of breaking the law and was willing to rectify the matter by taking immediate action.
My role as Chief Ombudsman is to make sure this important constitutional measure is followed. It is vital for our democracy.
All agencies can expect firm action from me if the law is not complied with,” Mr Boshier says.
