International work

The Ombudsman belongs to a number of international networks including:

  • the International Ombudsman Institute (the Chief Ombudsman is currently President of the IOI)
  • the Australian and New Zealand Ombudsman Association (ANZOA)
  • the Association of Information Access Commissioners
  • the Pacific Ombudsman Alliance.

The exchange of information and ideas at this level helps to improve our practice as Ombudsmen.  We also provide advice and assistance on request to our counterparts in the Pacific.

On 14-16 November 2012 we hosted the International Ombudsman Institute World Conference in Wellington.  Visit the conference website for details of the programme and here to read the speeches and papers that were given..
