Report on an unannounced inspection of Hawke's Bay Regional Prison
The Ombudsman is a National Preventive Mechanism under the Crimes of Torture Act 1989, with responsibility for examining and monitoring the general conditions and treatment of detainees in New Zealand prisons.
Our eight-person inspection team made an unannounced inspection of Hawke's Bay Regional Prison from 28 November to 4 December 2016.
