We have received advice from the building engineers that there has been no apparent structural damage to the Wellington and Christchurch Offices from today’s earthquake so both offices will be opening again at 8.30 am tomorrow (Tuesday 15 November 2016). However we now need to complete our own health and safety checks tomorrow before we are able to welcome the public back into both Offices. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding. In the meantime, our Auckland office will operate as normal. Our sincere thanks to our colleagues in Auckland for all their support and assistance today.

The Ombudsman’s Christchurch and Wellington offices are closed today in order for building checks to be completed after the earthquake earlier this morning. We are taking every care to avoid any risk to our staff and the public, and need professional assurance about our buildings. Staff have been asked not to come in to work and should contact their manager about any issues concerning them. Our Auckland office is operating as normal and any phone calls will be re-routed to this office. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
