In this speech, the Deputy Ombudsman discusses the importance of good information management and record keeping from the Ombudsman's perspective in order to support good governance and administrative practice by promoting greater accountability, transparency, efficiency,effectiveness and public trust and confidence. He describes the issues the Ombudsman faced when investigating the Police's refusal to make available its final investigation report of the Cave Creek tragedy. He also considers the significance of the memorandum issued by President Obama on his first day in office as President of the United States.
