Today is International Anti-corruption Day.
The Ombudsman performs a crucial role in promoting accountability and integrity in the public sector, through reviewing refusals to release official information, and investigating the reasonableness of government agencies' conduct. We also provide advice and guidance to whistleblowers from both the public and private sector under the Protected Disclosures Act, and can investigate disclosures about the public sector.
The Ombudsman seeks to ensure that any form of governmental maladministration, including corruption, is minimised. As Transparency International Chair Suzanne Snively states, 'evidence shows that good systems are the best antidote for corruption'.Back to top ↑
