Disclosure presents the results of an investigation into the Ministry of Education's engagement processes with schools concerning school closures and mergers, with a particular focus on the Canterbury schools reorganisation following the 2011 earthquake.
The report identifies significant flaws in the Canterbury process and recommends the Ministry work with education groups to develop a stronger and more effective approach to engagement with schools around closures and mergers. The Chief Ombudsman commends the Ministry for accepting his recommendations and will continue to monitor progress.
